A second 10-day centre in the UK
We are pleased to confirm the purchase of a second 10-day course centre in the UK. Dhamma Sukhakāri has moved to a new site, Walnutree Manor, set in 20 acres of land on the edge of Haughley Green, in the Suffolk countryside a few miles from Stowmarket station. The new centre will offer 10-day as well as 3-day courses and be able to accommodate larger numbers of students and servers.
Much work is needed to improve and prepare the site in time for the first 10-day course, planned for summer 2018. Many old students are already familiar with the site, as a number of off-centre 10-day courses have already been successfully held there in the last 18 months.
Whether you can spare a few days or a few weeks, you are also welcome to apply to join the current ongoing work period to prepare the centre for its first courses. Visit www.sukhakari.dhamma.org to find out how to get to the centre or email [email protected] for more information.
The cost of the property is £890,000; a further £520,000 will be spent on initial works to provide adequate facilities for students and servers. We still need an extra £150,000 to complete the initial development phase. It is anticipated that it will cost up to £5m to complete the new centre. Further information on the financing of the project can be found here.
You may make a donation via the Dhamma Dipa website, selecting ‘Dhamma Sukhakari’ from the drop-down menu.
Join a Committee
The work at the centre is organised through different committees. From kitchen or household, building or maintenance to finance, IT or administration, whether you have specific skills you would like to offer or are prepared to turn your hand to whatever is needed, email [email protected] to see how you could be involved. Some of this work can be done from home, coordinated through regular meetings by conference call, and some of the work done at the centre.
